YANG Jing (楊靜, born December 1963) is a Swiss-Chinese composer, internationally acclaimed pipa virtuoso, and versatile instrumentalist. Beginning music at a very young age, she has performed with orchestras worldwide, founded innovative ensembles, and developed performance styles that bridge Eastern and Western traditions.
Holding master’s degrees in traditional Asian music, Western contemporary and jazz composition, YANG Jing has also explored philosophies from East and West, shaping a musical language that is deeply personal and poetic. Her works span solo, chamber, orchestral, choral, and theatre music, blending classical, contemporary, traditional, jazz, and improvised elements into a compelling and expressive sonic journey.
Since 2003, YANG Jing has lived and worked in Switzerland, exploring sound across centuries, cultures, and landscapes. Her music has been premiered at major festivals internationally, captivating audiences with its emotional depth and intercultural resonance.
